Catching up with Summer.....

Where is time going!?
I'm anxiously waiting for summer to settle in...and for my hoomans to be a little less busy and have more time for outoor fun!
Strange enough, we had wonderful weather just before last weekend...and as soon as we planned a trip to swim and paddle and be outside.. weather almost cancelled our plans...
But WHEW! so relieved when we climbed in the rig, late Saturday and headed north to the mountains.... Camping for 2 nights at one of our fave spots for 3-day weekends, Sardine Lakes below the Sierra Buttes...and I made sure I dabbled in the refreshing (super chilly) water at every chance!
Too windy and cold to break out the kayaks and paddle around, we did hike up and down these rocky trails a few times, always in view of the Sierra Buttes.
We explored the jagedy rock plateaus between upper and lower lakes.

This is Sand Pond...no furries allowed...and usually ringed with picnic blankets, floaties and sun bathers... but on this occasion... I got to chill for a few minutes in the cool waters with my bumper. Ahhhhh....
Back on the trail...lots of little walk-abouts to keep warm...
The falls were flowing...from upper Sardine to lower.
Sorry bumper...found me a big stickie!
A lap around the Nature Trail... Beavers made great work of this area many years ago...

I finally convinced mom the water was warm enough to SWIM for a few minutes, ...the sun had come out, and the temps were slightly warmer....
You know this is one of my FAVORITE things to do!
Back on the trail... this time in Truckee, on the way HOME....  while dad pedaled one of his favorite mountain bike trails, mom and I hiked a single-track trail heading towards Coldstream Canyon...
A nice get-away and hoping for many more adventures this season!
See you again soon friends!

Out for a Sunday hike

Join us! As dad was out of town last weekend...mom and I were inspired to visit a local fireroad... You've seen us on this one before.. It felt great to get out in the cool breezes and just walk towards the sky!We looked back as we headed UP the Loma Alta Fire Road in Marin County Open Space http://www.marincountyparks.org/Depts/PK/Divisions/Open-Space/Main/PreserveMaps
The poppies are just starting to show.
Each turn in the trail had another view of the green hills.
A steep trail, but worth it!
We are lucky to live about 10 minutes from this area.
It was late afternoon as we made our way up this winding trail. We almost had it all to ourselves...not many hikers out.
"Are we there yet? I think I'm good...let's go back :)"
Mom prompted me with a few cookie bites along the trail to OUR top.....
We had reached the end of our fireroad! Not the top, but a great turn-around for us.
Ahhhhh!
The wind was howling! It was nice, and oh so green everywhere!
I let mom know I was READY to head back...
Come on....
Stop for a little view break...
Caught more spring flowers peeking out of the grasses.
We had made it back down to our starting point. That's Big Rock... and there is another trail system heading up that side of the valley. Perhaps another day :)
Thanks for joining us! Have a really nice holiday weekend friends.
Hope to see you again soon.

March Mountains

Greetings!
Finally finding time to share some of my March weekends with you :)
My Human's workie stuff seems to get in the way a lot, as I wish I could spend every day here in the fluffy cold stuff!!! But, we have found some March weekends to enjoy time in the mountains... So we hop in our camper, drive 4 hours up the road, and ahhhhh!
Last weekend was one of my favorites this month....new snow, lots of time in the new snow...and some new furpals too!
I am ALWAYS ready! Mom now brings spare orange balls...I am pretty particular about my choice of game balls! And when more fluffy white stuff comes out of the sky...well, although I am a great digger, the new snow sometimes eats my ball!
Saturday morning was pretty socked in, so I charmed mom into a DAY of just hanging out and playing with me in the snows!
You cannot tire me out in the meadow! Late afternoon Saturday, we had found a nice spot for MORE ball time...and I had a fantastic time meeting some new furpals!
We all happened to show up at the same spot... and had a great game going!
Mom would launch the ball, Max (cattle-mix) would herd me to the ball, Casey (lab) would steal the ball, and puppies Rocco (golden) and Bingo (rottie mix) would just bitey-tackle during each play. Our game went on forever, and oh what fun!
I do hope I get to meet up with any of these pals again soon!
That's Rocco and Casey in tug, and Bingo's rear side... I do get to play with Bingo each time we're in the mountains..he's a great pup! Bingo loves to hide my ball in the snow, but always finds it!
So....we've been enjoying this beautiful place.
Feels good to be in the mountain air, watching the snow glisten in the sun...
And feel the cold crystals on my furs!
Hope you are doing well my friends! Would love to hear from you.
See you again :)
